Our piano is in a poorly lit corner of our living room. Consequently, I normally wait until mid-day when the sun is brightest and the piano area is lighter to practise the piano. Over time, I noticed I was avoiding practising because I just couldn't see the written notation well enough. I also was not enjoying the sound of my playing because of my many mistakes.
Well, Steve rigged up a spotlight for our Entertainment Night at Christmas, and I got the clever idea the other night, when I had an itch to play, of shining that spotlight on my music. Lo and behold, I could see the music perfectly with the aid of that brilliant light. I noticed I was playing better than usual, and it was so much FUN to play! I have been making steady progress every day since then. Why didn't I think of this sooner? Adequate light DOES make a difference! I knew that.

But what was adequate light a few years ago, is dim to me now. I remember when we moved into our home 20 years ago, I thought we had too many windows. Now I don't think we have enough. I have to go outside now to match socks after I wash them!

Interesting, Jill. So you have a history of wearing sunglasses?
Is it possible that our "older eyes" need more light now?

I mean, "DO you have a history of wearing sunglasses?"
