Dad is Back - Livin' the Good Life

05:40 pm - Dad is Back
My dad is back for the winter and spring. For the last 35 years, my dad has lived with us for part of each year. He has also lived with his brother and MY brother (his son), his nieces, and also has had open invitations with his many friends to "come and stay as long as you like". He's been a welcome guest in many-a-home. When he was here, he took an active role in homeschooling our kids. And, as long as the weather was nice, he'd stay around and participate on all the family "doings". When the weather got too cold (he has poor circulation) he'd head out for warmer parts. He used to enjoyed the hot summers here, but lately he finds he can't tolerate the 100+ degree weather from July through September. (After all, he's about to turn 90!) So, this last summer he headed to my cousin's house in Idaho for their super weather. That seemed to work perfectly for him, (I wrote about it in my Oct. 9 post) and now he's back. I love the opportunity to dote on him a bit, and I love the idea of being able to give back to him after his many years of selfless service to our growing, young family (not to mention his 18 year role of being my own daddy). There is not a place on our property that you cannot see the fruits of my dad's handywork. He was always looking for ways to help and to spruce things up around here. Steve gratefully mentions that all the time. Welcome home, Dad!
