03:49 pm - Our Christmas Ornaments
Our family started a tradition of making Christmas tree ornaments out of plasticine each year, on the day after Christmas. We all decide what to make based on something we did from the previous year. Last Christmas, I modeled myself holding a hose to represent my endless hours watering our new trees in '07. One year I made a replica of our cat, Bulky, who had disappeared that year.
Here are some more: This one was modeled by Nathen, and it's supposed to be him running a mixing board in a recording studio... something he did a lot of that particular year. Note how detailed his figure is. You can't see it very well, but the mixing board has many little buttons and levers on it. He even fashioned the logo of his favorite t-shirt!
This one was done by Ely. It's of him skateboarding, something he had tried to make regular time for a few years back. It looks remarkably like him! He has a shirt just like that, and the SHOES are exact!
It's really fun for Maya and me to unwrap all the ornaments about this time each year and then "ooh and ahh" over everyone's works of art.
