Golden Sally - Livin' the Good Life

07:30 am - Golden Sally
I did, in fact, have chances to ride real horses growing up. By the time I was eleven or twelve, my dad had found a horse for me to ride. Every Saturday that he could manage, my dad took me to his friend Ernie's house to ride "Golden Sally". Sally was a beautiful palomino and quite a pleasure to ride. Dad arranged for me to have some riding lessons from Ernie, and once Ernie determined that I was safe on Sally, he let me ride around his property all I wanted. It was a nice arrangement, because Ernie needed his horse to be exercised more than she was, and I was a young girl who longed to ride. He taught me all about caring for horses, too. I got to groom and saddle and feed her as well as clean her stall. I was so grateful to my father for taking his Saturdays to drive me out to Ernie's and sit around all morning watching me do horsie-type things. I think Dad always stayed alert for ways to help me further my interests. Such a good daddy!
