Along the lines of my last post, Steve came in after paying the bills yesterday and said, "Looks like you've been spending less money." I was glad he noticed. Since we pay for almost everything with our credit card, then promptly pay it all off at the end of the month (for reasons of easily tracking our expenditures), it's easy to see where and on what our money is being spent. I've made a concerted effort to spend less lately, and it was clearly evident to Steve. Yeah!! We're working as a team! We're both being more conscious of spending and trying to be wise with our money. I can cut back even more, too, and will if necessary. I've had a lifetime of learning how to be frugal. I can wear the same thing every day and not feel bad about it. I can walk around in holey shoes and not feel deprived. I can drive old cars and make all our food from scratch. I can go to town less, which means I spend less. I can use the library rather than buy books... the list goes on and on. But, the point is, I did it before, and it wasn't bad. The last thing I want to give up, though, is spending money on a wide variety of foods. But, I will if I have to. I'm so used to abundance now. Steve and I have lived very comfortably for a long time, and we've really enjoyed it. I think I'm quite adaptable and can be happy under most circumstances. So, if we have to further tighten our belts for the greater good, we will gladly do so. After all, it's only money!

I'm like you, the wide variety of food would be the hardest for me to let go of. I could cut back about anywhere else, but I'm not so sure I could let go of good nutrition.

Yeah, I don't ever plan to cut out good nutrition. But, I do spend unecessarily on food I don't need but just want. I'm notorious for buying "treats" for example. I could give those up.
