Grandmommie's Ring - Livin' the Good Life

05:03 pm - Grandmommie's Ring
This ring belonged to my grandmother, Edna, who was born around 1900. She gave it to her daughter, Dulcie (my mother), who wore it in her girlhood. I have a picture of my mother wearing it as a teenager. Then my mom gave it to me when I was 11 or 12. Both my mother and grandmother were petite (my grandmother was 4'10") with small hands and slender fingers. I was much heartier than that, and by the time I was a teenager, my fingers were too large for the ring. I remember my dad cutting it off my finger when he discovered that I couldn't take it off. Later, I had the ring sized larger. Since I considered myself a "farmer" of sorts after I married Steve, milking goats, tending chickens, gardening, and remodeling houses, I put the ring away, as impractical for my lifestyle. I found recently after many years, and I've been admiring it and appreciating the women who wore it.
