Overheard at the Fireworks - Livin' the Good Life

04:57 pm - Overheard at the Fireworks
As usual, I went to the fireworks at the high school football field this year. Steve doesn't like fireworks, so I meet friends there. It's a 20 year tradition that I don't like to miss. I've gone to parties with Steve a few times instead, but it just wasn't the same. So, I sat with three other families, oohing and ahhing at the year's latest and greatest technological wonders in fireworks, and I overheard this little gem from 6 year old Kay: (evidently she hadn't seen fireworks of this magnitude before)
"Oh, the poor sky! It has to deal with all of this!"
I never thought of it that way before, but to a child who views the sky as a peaceful, dark, quiet space, which we certainly do in the desert, it must have seemed like quite a violation to her.
I love, love, love hearing the wonderings and observations of little kids. They are so endearing.
