Ollie Loves Pushing Buttons - Livin' the Good Life

10:12 pm - Ollie Loves Pushing Buttons
Ollie has observed adults pushing buttons all his life, and he knows that interesting things happen when buttons are pushed. The other day, he spotted my boom box and he marched right over to it with his tiny finger stretched out and pushed a random button. It happened to be the "play" button, and a lively bluegrass song came on. He didn't seem the least bit surprised, (since he knows that interesting things happen when buttons are pushed) and his immediate response was to start dancing. His current style of dancing is to bob his head and sway his body. He gets so into it that he often gets off balance and falls down. He tries to dance and walk at the same time, which is not an easy combination for him yet. Anyway, for the record, lest we forget this stage, here is an action shot (meaning blurry) of Ollie going for the buttons on our TV system and Maya right there restraining him. Whenever he sees a button, whether it's on a remote control device, a phone, or a piece of equipment, he will hurry over and try to push it. We have made reasonable attempts at baby-proofing our house, however, Ollie is very astute at noticing the exceptions.
It's good to remember that, with kids and their stages, what might seem like a big deal at the time is soon a distant memory and NOT a big deal. In fact, without pictures like these, there's a good chance we wouldn't remember this stage at all. It's all just part of life with babies.
