There's a little girl inside of me who loves dollhouses and dolls. Evidently, I played with them a lot as a child. But, I put aside my interest in dollhouses and dolls when I gave birth to a sturdy pack of boys, in favor of Spiderman and swords and sports of every kind. I loved it all. I just love childhood, whatever flavor it comes in.
But, when I passed a dollhouse kit in Home Depot right after Thanksgiving, I paused. My memory jogged. Didn't I used to love dollhouses? Why am I so attracted to this? I considered. Could I make this? Couldn't I use a Christmas project to throw myself into this year? So, I bought it quite impulsively, and a little guiltily. What in the world would I do with it? It's so big! Ollie's too little for it. Where could I put it? All the while, I was smiling as I brought it home and showed it to whoever would look. Reanna was the most excited and said she wanted to help build it. We got started.
But, then my dad got sick and went in the hospital, and everything was put on hold. It sat in pieces, half-painted, in the corner for another time. Then, later in January, after Dad had returned and was recovered, and I had recovered from my first flu, Reanna and I started up again and didn't stop until we were finished. And, here it is:

The side view: (not quite finished painting the roof)

And decorating the inside with furniture will take some time. Here's a good beginning:
The braided rug and bed quilt were made by Reanna. They add such a sweet touch. I love them.

Oh I love it! I am the same way. I can't tell you how many doll houses I have looked at and almost brought home...but then I think where would I put it? I like the color of yours. You could even keep it in your front room and it wouldn't be too busy since it's those soft earth tones. That little rug and quilt are just perfect! Maybe Reanna will have a little girl.
