Nathen and Reanna's shed was delivered, after a total of 4 days of jacking and cribbing and loading onto our friend's gigantic flatbed truck. We all had our doubts and misgivings about the project as it went along, because it was, for lack of a better word, well, "sketchy". But, all's well that ends well, and it DID end well. (Uh, actually, it's not over yet! Today the building gets lowered to the ground. No small task. It will take all day.)

Here our friend, Wolf, is backing the shed down our driveway, expertly missing signs, Joshua trees, and electrical boxes.
Moving a building along our neighborhood dirt roads was a good way to meet people, I can tell you! An older couple I've been wanting to meet for nearly a year now, new neighbors, came out to gawk at the shed as it passed by their house. It gave me a chance to introduce myself and explain what we were doing. They were real nice. I think I'm going to want to get to know them better.

Backing the building into its spot, followed by cheers and hip-hip hoorays!

Two tired, but happy campers looking forward to getting this thing on the ground. Then, "let the remodeling begin!" This is their future bedroom., and it's gonna be nice!

So seeing the dirt roads makes me wonder just how far out you live….How close to your nearest store? And just how close is the new shed to your house? I have a need to picture it all out in my mind.

The nearest market is about 12 miles away in the town of Yucca Valley. Though the health food store we frequent is about 3 miles away in Joshua Tree. I'll have to take a picture of the shed in relation to our house for you. We can see it from our house, but it's not close. The shed was only moved two long blocks from Ben's house. All on dirt roads. The shed doesn't look that great, but it is well framed and has a good roof. So that's a start. They need to replace the siding and put in windows and doors and put new flooring on top of the old stuff. So there's lots to do. But, they will make it nice. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.

Oh, and by the way, properties were originally divided up into 5 acre parcels in Joshua Tree. That's why it looks like we're out in the middle of nowhere in the pictures. We own just shy of 10 acres here. Ben lives on a 5 acre plot (that is ours too) and we have another 5 acres about 3 miles north of here. Lots of space! That's how I like it.
