Childbirth in Canada - Livin' the Good Life

12:48 pm - Childbirth in Canada
Some of my Canadian relatives took issue with my Feb. 8th and 9th posts on the perils of childbirth in hospitals today. I want to clearly state that I am in the tiny minority when it comes to my views on childbirth. However, things are going to change, and I will be glad to be on the forefront of a wonderful new day for childbirth practises in the U.S. It will take time, but the tiny minority is rising up! My relatives made a good case for living and giving birth in a country that provides universal health care. Read what they have to say in the comments section earlier this month. Oh, and by the way, though I'd prefer giving birth in a small, dark closet, I am obviously NOT a cat, and I don't birth 5 or 6 kittens at a time (meaning I might not care much or even notice if one of them died), so I would definitely need a LARGE closet so I could fit my midwife in there with me in case I fall into that 6% catagory who actually need to be transported and c-sectioned. That's when I would be singing praises for trained surgeons! But, since that never even came close to happening, I will continue to view myself as a normal, healthy mom who gave birth to 5 healthy babies (on 5 different occasions, of course) on her own steam, just like any self-respecting cat would do.
