Here we go again, off to the Huck Finn Bluegrass Festival for 4 days of lazin' around, listenin' to great music, and watching the river flow by under the shade of massive cottonwood trees. It's supposed to be 100 degrees+ this weekend, so we'll probably be movin' real slow, but, heck, that's what a vacation is for! I'll enjoy the Huck Finn look-a-like contest, watch people carvin' on wood, witness the raising of a log cabin, cheer the kids on in the "greased pole" contest, keep my distance from the rowdy all-weekend arm wrestling contests, visit with vendors, eat hot, fresh-roasted, cinnamon-sugar-glazed almonds (yum!!), drink fresh lemonade, listen in on workshops offered by the headliner bands, attend cowboy church sittin' on bales of hay under the trees on Sunday morning, linger on the sidelines of impromptu jam sessions, people watch, and,of course, take in the great lineup of bands on the big stage that are scheduled continuously throughout the weekend. When I get too hot or tired, I can retreat to our motorhome to read a couple of good books I've saved for just this occasion. Looks like I'm in for a fun-filled "long weekend"! (Steve will be happily schmoozing with the bands and lending a hand to the sound crew. That's his idea of fun!)
